When the final load calculation came back higher, they upgraded the inverter spec — but didn't revisit the supporting infrastructure. A lesson learned the hard way.
From my perspective, the total cost of ownership (TCO) framework applies here in a way most buyers don't consider. The "cheapest" quote for the inverter was $1,980. But the total cost of getting that inverter installed on time — including rush fees, ancillary parts, and labor overruns — was closer to $3,500. The $2,150 unit from Distributor A, with faster shipping and better support, would have been cheaper in the long run if we'd started with it.
Granted, not every project has a 48-hour fire drill. Most of my installations run on a normal 2-3 week timeline with standard shipping. But when the heat is on, you learn what matters. And what matters is having the right partner — one who understands that the Deye 8kW hybrid inverter price is just one line item in a much bigger picture.
To be fair, Marco's crew did excellent work on the wiring and panel layout. The issue was purely a coordination gap between design and procurement. That's fixable.
